We Don't Need Another Hero

This film and its soundtrack receives a lot of negative feedback and perhaps the film part I can understand but this was made in 1985 and Mad Max was not a solidified franchise at that point. It is likely Tina Turner was brought in because she was the hottest American artist at the time. Some executives probably sat around more than willing to dump the prospect of a 3rd installment until someone says "hey, we'll get Tina Turner! People love Tina Turner, she's hot right now" and the money was spent. I personally enjoy this film and believe it would have been a failure without Turner's casting.

I believe the soundtrack is good. I have always had a liking for We Don't Need Another Hero and One of The Living because of Tim Cappello's sax playing on those tracks. We Don't Need Another Hero is a standout rock track. Tina's vocals, Tim's sax playing, the guitar, that infectious percussion arrangement. It is a great song and a lot of people besides me must have thought so too because it did make it to the #2 spot on the billboard hot 100. It's style is typical of the 80's and Tina Turner. This was her moment to be a character other than herself and she did it well. Her performance including the 2 tracks helped give this film the following that it has. Bring on the haters.
