My Fave out of the original trilogy!!

This is JUST MY OPINION.

I've seen the first 2 and while I actually enjoyed the first Mad Max, my thoughts on The Road Warrior was, "Meh." Terrible writing, terrible acting, terrible movie. Mel Gibson kicked ass though, he really shined. Decent action, AWESOME climax but other than that, I was bored.

Mad Max: Beyond Thunderdome was wayyy better written, actually adding humor, better characters, better dialogue and better direction. In Thunderdome, we see more of the wasteland, more of the dystopian civilization actually trying to rebuild.

Max Rockatansky was fleshed out better, with more personality than in the previous ones. He even speaks more, than in Road Warrior. And before you criticise me for saying "he's supposed to be a shell of his former self", I GET IT. But I don't dig it. A "Hero" with ZERO personality is BORING as hell.

Even Arnold's T800 Terminator in T2 had more personality than Max in the Road Warrior.

I just rewatched all the Mad Max movies, and this one was a lot better than I remembered.

I agree with you, when i was young in the 80's i loved "The Road Warrior" and it was my favorite of the franchise, but when i grew old i started to like the first movie more, it had more character development, better story and better sets and it felt more like a tragedy with skilled theater actors in it.
"Mad Max Beyond Thunderdome" was my least favorite when i was a kid and now is my second favorite, besides the slow second half, it's a better looking movie (outstanding cinematography, costumes and sets), better written story with way more layers on the character of Max and much better acting overall (i think Tina was fantastic in her screen debut and the kids were awesome and very well directed by the theater experienced director, George Ogilvie).
Now let's talk about "The Road Warrior" it was inovative for its time in the action department, the way the cameras were placed and the action was staged, but besides that, the movie have very little more to offer... not much of a story, Max is way too disconnected and feels like a zombie sometimes (even if i just adore Mel in it), the villans are good, menacing & creepy, but the Humungous' character was a bit wasted in his screen time and both him and Wez demise was not as much creative to make an impact. Plus, it became boring in the middle section. It's a great action / chase flick (a kind of the "Fast 'n' Furious" of its time), but i think "Mad Max" and "Mad Max - Beyond Thunderdome" were far better written and well executed films with way more heart and soul put on the whole effort...

If QT take inspiration,it's called homage,if everyone else do the same,it's called rip-off

I'm with you. Best of the trilogy and sure as hell an eighties masterpiece.
