The Reason Why Beyond Thunderdome is not as good.

If you've read the Trivia you'll know this;

"George Miller lost interest in the project after his friend and producer Byron Kennedy was killed in a helicopter crash while location scouting. That may explain why Miller only handled the action scenes while George Ogilvie handled the rest. The film is dedicated to Byron Kennedy."

So yeah Miller really didn't have a lot to do with the film, not to mention it had TERRIBLE 80's music throughout. Other than the Set Design and overall look of the movie it was nothing like the other two.

I went to watch it for the first time the other day and I couldn't even finish it... I own it so eventually I will get around to it, probably have a Mad Max Marathon, but wow was I not impressed.

It's only after we've lost everything that we're free to do anything.

The movie is definitely uneven, but it's still fun to watch as long as you don't go in expecting it to be like the previous films (particularly the second one).

reply

Wow I did not know that george miller only did the action scenes, I assumed they co-directed and that the tone of the movie was more because of studio/american influence.

It's not as good as The Road Warrior or Fury Road, but it's still satisfactory and I liked it better than Mad Max (1979).

Thunderdome is a brilliant movie. Artistic and ambitious. It combines elements of Michael Moorcock's Eternal Champion and Jesus Christ. It's not meant to be a Road Warrior redeux. It was the perfect ending to the saga, and is why Fury Road had to be a reboot.
I DON'T BELIEVE IN CASUAL SEX. I ALWAYS WEAR A TIE.

It's got it's problems which are hard to look passed but it still beats Fury Road.

A huge assed pile of this.
Every time I see the words 'Fury Road' and 'beat' in the same sentence I think about what I'd like to do to George Miller for soiling the name of Mad Max with that piece of crap.
