so they abandoned most of the tribe?!?!

The older boy...the leader of the kids...he was left behind with the rest of the kid whilst a handful of the kids flew off to Sydney. Maybe Max went back to the tribe?

They probably had an easier time in that nice river valley than the ones who ended up in Sydney. Max was all for staying there until Savannah and the rest took off.

im thinking Max went back, hooked up with a 17 year girl from the tribe and had great sex for years whilst populating the tribe with little Maxies.

The Epilogue (final scene) narrates how: "we light the city (Sydney) now -as a beacon- in hopes that one day they -'Walker/Max'- will see the light and bring the rest of them home.... at least that's my recollection of the ending
