Klaus Maria Brandauer
His fine performance is the saving grace of this lumbering film. He brings a grace and an air of colonial decadence that lifts the picture from the pretty but ponderous romance that it otherwise is. I wish that he had more screen time - he always left me wanting more, whereas Streep and Redford's scenes together barely ignited any sparks at all.
