I didn't cry, but I liked it a lot. When Michael finally shouts "I love you", I couldn't stop smiling. And I love how it ended with them both diving in the water, a metaphorical representation of what they were getting into. You knew they were in it for the long haul.

I only do it with superheroes.

Great scene.

When Michael is treading water and mumbles "Toni" in that longing voice, that's the high point for me.

C. Thomas claims he didn't really know how to act before he did The Hitcher (it's in the Quotes section here on IMDB), but I beg to differ. Great scene, great acting.
