I think something else was cut in the DVD release.

The scene with Officer Clancy, right before he gives the money back to Cigar Face. When I saw it on VHS about 16 years ago, I remember him saying, "It ain't right" just before "You're wasting your time."
So I see it on DVD now, and not only is "It ain't right" missing, there also seems like a really bad editing cut straight to "You're wasting your time." So what's the deal?

"There is no escape, John!"

I will check out my VHS this weekend and let you know.

Depends on watch version of the DVD you're watching: the 2005 one seems to be the most complete, whereas the 2003 version is a complete bastardisation of the film, anything even remotely violent was shoddily taken out, I felt incensed and cheated by it. The version I saw (2003) had what you were talking about, so that's the one. I suggest buying the 2005 copy from Amazon, or, alternatively, pushing this film to the back of your head and pursuing better things.

I have the 2003 version on DVD and it is badly edited as Declan said! All the violent scenes are pretty much removed. The scene where they run over the kid on the bike was completely cut to where the guy says he has to go to church. The editing isn't even smooth it's just cut for cutting's sake. Avoid at all costs and go for the 2005 version!
