Nude scene completely out of place.

I'm from Ohio, which has the largest Amish population in the U.S., and while I am by no means an expert on the Amish, I cannot imagine an Amish woman exposing herself like that. The scene should have been left out, because there's a scene later on that is much more accurate. Amish women believe that their hair is their glory and should only be revealed to their husbands, which is why they wear bonnets, and this is touched upon towards the end of the movie when the camera shows her bonnet on the counter, and then she runs out to Book. This is a much more accurate presentation of her love for Book. The nude scene was just exploitive.

I agree and the nudity added nothing to the story or plot. We already knew she was partially nude, there was no reason to actually show it and, on a very shallow note, she did not look good without a top on anyway so it's not like the audience was getting a thrill from seeing a nice rack. I really could have done without seeing that.

It was weird. It looked like they were covering it at first and then all of a sudden... there is was. It also made me feel weird looking at an Amish woman, who are known for being very conservative, in that light.

People in the80's were not so uptight. Heck Iran and Afghanistan in 1960's had half naked women just walking around their towns. Worldwide growth of shaming women's bodies has inexplicably been championed by women themselves. Driven by religion. Mostly Islam. But also Christianity. Humans are pretty dumb

I think in this Moment she does not think if she is an Amish or not, just react as a person who is very attracted to John..

I think the nudity wasn’t necessary. They could have done the scene without showing the private parts.

But the scene served a purpose in promoting the romance plot between the main characters.
