How many have been watching since day one?

Just wondering . . . most of those people have to be in their 50s or older by now.

I sure haven't been watching since day one because I wasn't even born yet until 1989 and this started in 1986. I'm turning 22 in almost a week.

My mom has been watching since it first started.

One of my favorite memories of watching Oprah was the "Harpo Productions" animation at the end with the Oprah cartoon. Then the local news would start up.

And my fondest memory of the show is when she turned 40 when the whole audience sang Happy Birthday and there was a balloon drop. I remember watching that one at my grandma's house when I was little. =P

I've been watching since Day 1. I'm 45. In fact, I remember when she was first on the tonight show with Joan Rivers before all of her fame when she was just a local celeb in Chicago.

Even though I wasn't born yet when this show was on, I think it's safe to say a lot of kids from my generation and older grew up watching Oprah since our generation of 20 somethings was very young or born right around the time it first came on. My mom was actually 7 months pregnant with my older sister when the show first premiered, so she literally grew up with the show. I literally grew up with the Simpsons because I was about 7 months old when it first aired in Dec. 1989.

Seriously does anyone remember watching the one where she turned 40? I think that's the one I remember the most. lolz! As well as the episodes with the Harry Potter cast, and the one where she gave Mattie Stepanek--a dying boy with cancer, a prop wand from the movie and he got to meet the cast. I'm pretty sure it aired in November 2002.

Also a local "celebrity" that lives in my city got to go on the Oprah Show in 2006. He's an autistic kid who, after always sitting on the bench, finally got to play basketball with his team on Senior night and scored six 3 pointers and it was crazy--everybody went nuts! There's a lot more to the story but it was really a great exciting moment for him.
