Ramirez and Kurgan seemed to know exactly what was going on and what they had to do with the whole immortal bit and who had to kill who to make it to the gathering etc but McCloud only found out when Ramirez told him?
How did Ramirez know so much about it?
Ramirez was taught by someone, who in turn was taught by someone and so on. The origins are never fully explained. Although the sequels try, that’s another can of worms.

But if not. You get that wonky feeling when an Immortal is near. Sooner or later, you're gonna get into a fight about it. And that guy isn't gonna die. And then you're gonna try harder.
