F^ck the haters....this film rocks

Sure its incredibly stupid and full of plotholes....but it is basically a 80's flyboy fantasy and not intended to be taken seriously.

The soundtrack is great and the action scene's still pack a punch. And it has many likeable characters like Chappy, doug and dougs friends...and Tim thomerson wins us over as the father we are happy to see get rescued. And the humour compliments the film well. People who saw it back in the 80's were rooting for Doug, and hoping he didn't get taken down.

I saw it back in February 1986 and its always carried a special spot for me. Iron eagle 2 was absolutely poor and I've never seen 3 or 4 (though I'm surprised that Gedrick didn't reprise his role for 4. Even though it would have made no sense, I thought the idea of working with Gossett jnr again would have appealed)

So don't listen to the Nitpickers...just sit back and enjoyed a bit of escapism.
