F-16 versus F/A-18

Question for all the armchair fighter pilots: which plane would you rather face the enemy in?

YF-16 beat the F/A-18's ancestor (the YF-17) in the USAF's fighter tests, but clearly the YF-17 had something going for it for the Navy to choose it over a maritime version of the F-16. I suspect the single engine of the F-16 makes it cheaper to buy in bulk, and it's a very agile plane to boot, but I can't imagine the F/A-18 being a slouch in a dogfight. Especially the more recent, upgraded variants. An Australian pilot also told me once it's a very easy plane to fly.

If I had to pick one, I'm going for the Hornet.

I would choose the Falcon. Simply because it is more manoeverable, sure that would also make it harder to fly, but easier to get into a kill position and to break out of one if the enemy are coming at me.
Though I accept that a full payload for the Falcon would negate some of this. So best if it is only laden for duty as a fighter rather than a bomber, the aeriel scenes in Iron Eagle looked great but I doubt a Falcon could really pull off all of those manoevers if it was fully loaded- remember the dogfight footage had them armed with only air-air missiles.
