"They're baaaaaaaack....!"

It's pretty wild to think one of the more ubiquitous catch phrases in pop culture for a good 10-15 years there came from a random movie like Poltergeist II (or its trailers to be most accurate).

I only learned of its origins years after the fact. Honestly I think I just figured it didn't have any direct origin and was just something that kind of evolved spontaneously among people.

Come to think of it, doesn't Randy Quaid shout, "I'm baaaaaaaack!" in more or less that exact sing-song way at the end of Independence Day, a good ten years later? I really don't think they were at all trying to make a reference to Poltergeist II, it really was just THAT common a thing for people to say!

It's definitely the most memorable and famous aspect of the film.

Kind of like Jaws 2, "Just when you thought it was safe to go back into the water"
