Helen Slater was so adorable in this movie, the combination of her looks and her performance.
She reminded me a lot of Katy Perry in this movie.
It's too bad her career never took off, I guess Supergirl ruined it although she was great as Supergirl and also really awesome in The Legend of Billie Jean.
Supergirl (1984) didn't ruin anything, since it was only her first film. Post-Supergirl, Slater had successes with Ruthless People (#10 film of 1986), The Secret of My success (#7 film of 1987), and City Slickers (#10 film of 1991). If Slater's career didn't amount to much in the 1990s, it wasn't because of Supergirl. That barely thwarted her burgeoning career.

She was very pretty and a good actress. Maybe she was just too much like so many other actresses of that time. She's actually still working, doing a lot of tv guest spots.
shareI agree that she was adorable in this movie. She looked like a cuter/better looking Linda Hamilton to the point that I thought it was her just in an earlier role or with different makeup. Of course, that wasn't the case :P
