Pasty-faced troll! - DeVito shines

With all due respect for all the other terrific cast members (especially the divine Miss M), this movie is, for me, all about Danny DeVito - he is hilarious in every scene he's in.

I think it's among his funniest roles. Yes, one may argue it's rather derivative, a rich man's Louie DePalma of sorts. Be that as it may, that gruff little guy schtick fits him like few others in Hollywood history.

I would say that every single cast member shines in it. Even the police are perfectly cast.

reply

I'm okay with that, it's a great "80s comedy."

reply

I think every performance is spot on (including "The Bedroom Killer", who enhanced the comedy).

Whatever movie he's in, DeVito seldom disappoints me. His so-called schtick makes him one of the most entertaining actors to watch, but he is a great talent overall. (He truly shined in this one, by the way.)

Hey there, Johnny Boy, I hope you fry!

I was working at a movie theater in high school at the time when this came out. I can remember people rolling in the aisles laughing and you could hear the laughter literally bellowing through the walls into the lobby. Good times indeed. I miss those days!

reply

I don't think I've ever seen DeVito give a bad performance.

I'm just expressing my opinion.

You may all go to hell, and I will go to Texas.

I liked this movie a lot. You can't beat Bette Midler and Danny DeVito.

Anita Morris looked terrific in this one. I just read she died of cancer at age 50. How very sad. RIP.
