Is there anyone who doesn't like this film?

Reading the message board for Ruthless People, pretty much all the posts are calling it one of the funniest films of all time. I whole-heartedly agree, but I'm wondering, is there anyone who doesn't like Ruthless People? It only has an average loser rating of 6.7, but I think Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King has more haters, and that's the 4th highest rated title on IMDB.

Apparantly Elmore Leanord doesn't like it, on account of the plot was ripped straight out the book that later became Jackie Brown... (refer to, "The Switch, Anyone?" post!

Apart from that, everybody on earth is united only by their love of this movie. And Trading Places! Another classic in the same decade! Incredible.

(BBC PYTHON VOICE: AND NOW FOR SOMETHING COMPLETELY DIFFERENT!)

In view of the fact that it's Valentine's day soon, 'Breaking News!' decided to celebrate "TomKat" (in response to three private emailers repeatedly demanding something on the gruesome-toothsome-twosome), by writing a pretty lyric to the tune of John Denver's classic, "Take Me Home, Country Roads," called,

KATIE HOLMES (TAKE TOM HOME)...

So brush down that old guitar, get yer hanky's out, and be reminded that TRUE love ain't dead. Erm, or is it? ;-)

This is one of the funniest movies ever made and anyone who doesn't like it hasn't seen it. There is no other possible explanation.

I know some people have a distaste for Bette Midler so that could turn people off. But I think she's great in this. (plus you get to hate her through at least half the movie) Also I can't see a bit of similarity between this and Jackie Brown....except they have double-crosses which were hardly new with Elmore Leonard!

Yup. Me. Why? Cuz Movie SUCK.

Bye, bye.

It's based on a story: Randsom of Red Chief by O. Henry

I love this movie. Watch Helen Slaters reaction when the cop comes to the door or Bette Midlers monolauge about the "San Quintin Country Club" or after she knocks the serial killer down the stairs about if Judge Reinhold was his father and Bette Midler was his mom this is what he would like.(Strong Argument for birth control.) When Judge Rienhold is questioned by the cops at work he trys to get out the window and explains to the cops that he has diarehha and when the cops leave he's hanging out the window. Danny Devito's character has sooooo many funny lines. Yeah like "Trading Places" it's kinda dated to the 80's but they're both knock out funny.

It's so creative and different and what a great story! My boyfriend even watched it with me when it was on tv the other night, and he doesnt like anything made before 2005 and thats not full-on action! What a great movie!!!!!

This is very god and funny so many twists in the plot even trying to explain the story of this movie to friends is funny not the funniest movie of all time but still worth more than 6.7 somthing

Well, the first time I saw it at the cinema, I laughed my lungs out. Have never had so much pain in my laughing muscles with any other movie. Later saw it on TV and it left me freezing cold. Third time, I could somewhat appreciate it again.
As a result of this exquisite science, I think maybe it's a movie you just have to be in the mood for. I'll never aregument for its perceived filmatic qualities, but I'm ever grateful for those laughs that first time.

Perhaps you had to have been around in the eighties? To appreciate the shoulder pads, perms and garish colours. ANd of course the pumping tunes of Billy Joel.

Dick, this is nuts.

I liked it allright, though not greatly-so I guess I'd be in the middle. But I did only see it once, and have never had any desire to see it again. But due to this one time I saw it it does have three big distinctions among movies in theaters for me. My, mother, sister, and I went over to Rock Hill, SC to see the 1:00 p.m. showing at the Cinema 4 on Thursday, July 17, 1986. It was the only movie they saw in a theater that year, and one of only 3 I saw, but I had just graduated from high school on Saturday, June 7, 1986, and thus it was the first movie I ever saw in a theater after this (and as a high school graduate). I then took a driver's class in Rock Hill for two weeks in late July-early August, 1986, and then got my first drivers liscence on Wednesday, August 6, 1986--so it was also the last movie I ever went to in a theater before I became a liscened driver and could drive myself. And the Charlotte/York County area was in a record setting hot and dry summer in 1986, and after we left this theater and were driving down Cherry Road in Rock Hill a little after 3:00 we passed a digital clock/thermometer, which read 100 degrees (with a heat index well above 100). We did notice that, but were not suprised at all, as it was typical of what it had been around there since early June. And I know this makes it the movie I saw in a theater when it was the hottest outside (and this showing was pretty crowded, that is probably why). Now, I love this type of weather, and this year (2008) has the same day/date correspondence as 1986, and it is predicted the weather will be like this again here this summer, so maybe I could go back to this theater (now Cinema 7, and a second run one) by walking (I'm up in Charlotte now with no car) one day this July, and have a very similair experience 22 years later, and one I'd love and thrive with.

This movie is one of the funniest i have ever seen. Very clever plot and very good acting and dialogue.

Some of the comments from people on this thread are a joke. Not because people don't rate it but because they can't express themselves in an intelligent manner. But then message boards are full of people like that, that don't add anything to a debate.
