Questions about el Guapo Cheracter

I was 9 when this movie came out i remember going to see it at the Movie theater and loving this movie laughing my Butt off. I also remember as a kid looking at the Charterer of El Guapo (the Handsome one) i get the joke lol. I remember thinking El Guapo was just a Mexican Bandit who was terrorizing the Town of Santo Poco like a Bully.

Fast forward to now i hadn't seen this movie in years and seen it recently on Cable Tv. One of my major in College was Latin American History after watching it a few days ago I notice that El Guapo was not a Simple Mexican Bandit but actually a Mexican Revolutionary gone bad or a ex Government soldier who turned on the people who supported the Mexican Revolution. Hence why he had such a big Army not typical of a regular Bandit and why he wanted large quantities of Rifles that the Germans sold to him.

1916 when this movie took place the Mexican Revolution was in Full swing the previous year 1915 Pancho Villas army was defeated in Celaya Guanajuato Reducing his army to a small number of Rag tag Guerrilla fighters. Pancho Villa started looking to build up his army again and began buying weapons and he started doing things similar to what bandits do like rustling cattle Robbing banks and Trains. Another Former Revolutionary turn Bad was Benjamin Argumedo who also turned on many small villages and Towns. There's a Possibility that el Guapo was Molded after Pancho Villa after the 1915 defeat at Celaya or Benjamin Argumedo.

1. More signs he was a Revolutionary turn bad of Former Government Soldier or Officer there are many Signs and historical accuracies.
He tells Santo Poco people that it's no longer under his Protection meaning he possibly at one time protected the Town from a Rival Invading Army But later abused his power and began terrorizing the people of Santo Poco.

2. He tells one of his men we crushed the Federales in the Planes of Oaxaca. Federales is what they called Mexican Government soldiers leaving the possibility he actually was a Revolutionary at one point. also meaning he probably at one point had a much Larger army that defeated Mexican Government soldiers in a Battle in Oaxaca.

3. He tells another one of his men that together they fought the Priest of this Mission meaning his headquarters was an Old Mission. Also it is historical fact that many Mexican Revolutionaries were either Atheist or anti Catholic. Pancho Villa and Alvarao Obregon and Venustiano Carranza hated the role the Catholic Church played in Mexican Society also the Catholic church sided with the Rich and with the rightwing Dictator Porfirio Diaz. Alvaro Obregon was an Atheist who was later killed by a Religious Fanatic. El Guapo also had no problem blowing up the Church in Santo Poco.

Another Historical accuracy was the Germans. The German Government had sent a letter around this time to the Mexican Government telling them to Join them as allies against the Us World war 1 was also going on at the time. Hitler would also later ask Mexico the same thing to be allies against the Us. Possibly the Germans where selling El Guapo Guns so he could invade the Us.

well that's what i have whats your take on it. the mystery of who El Guapo really was and the Three Gringos who defeated him.

so, what exactly were your questions about el guapo? no offense but that was kinda painful to read, btw.

"i like your movies man, you got a great penis"

reply

rvrjose, regarding Villa's view of the Catholic church.

"I don't understand what all these women are complaining about, I gave each one of them a good Catholic wedding." (Note well that he was careful to give none of them a CIVIL wedding).....I'm not 100% sure he actually said that, but I've heard from more than once source that he said it or something very similar. When he was killed 7 or 8 women showed up, each claiming to be his widow.

The easy Question is. Was El Guapo molded after a defeated Mexican Revoltionary turned Bandit like Pancho Villa or Benjamin Argumedo who did similar things around the same time the movie was supposed to took Place.

reply

Probably not before.
