Ellie...Mayim Bialik and Kamie Harper?

I noticed there was a little girl named Ellie played by Mayim Bialik in season 1, episode 4 "No Way Down" who leads Catherine underground to see Father. Kamie Harper played Ellie in episode 9, "A Children's Story." I was wondering if they were supposed to be the same character, or if the episodes were filmed out of sequence or what. At first I thought it was the same Ellie in episode 4 as episode 9, until I realized it was a different actress. Mayim Bialik never appeared in the show again, so I'm wondering if "No Way Down" was meant to take place after "A Children's Story" and Mayim just filled in for a day. Hmmm.

I believe 'A Children's Story' was supposed to be the 2nd ep. after the pilot, but for some reason didn't air it in that order

It could be that Mayim was contracted to do something else at the same time as episode 9 was filmed, and therefore couldn't do it. Have you checked her IMDb page to see what else she might have been doing at that time? Although, she could have been doing a play instead of TV or Film. There is a site that lists plays, but I can't remember the url at the moment.

Cathvin87 is right, A Children's Story was supposed to be the second episode, but the producers felt it was too weak to follow up the pilot so they decided to put it mid season. So probably that's why we got an Ellie who was played by another actress. I doubt they wanted us to believe there were 2 different Ellie's down below.

Odd, the show has been aired on TV here through the summer (on the same channel where I first watched it as a kid in the late 80s!) and they showed A Children's Story right after the pilot. Could the episode order have been changed for other countries?
