Father's conversation with Vincent in 'Orphans'

Hi there, hoping for some help here, as my memory about the first season is a little fuzzy, but after rewatching season two I was struck by a couple of conversations that Vincent had with Father where Father seemed to be very wary of Vincent and Catherine having a relationship - specifically in 'Orphans', where he almost seems to imply that Catherine's presence Below is somehow dangerous to Vincent. Why is this, exactly? Father always seems to like Catherine, and whilst I appreciate that he is very protective of Vincent, I don't understand why he seems to discourage Vincent from the one thing that would obviously make him the happiest.

I think Father was afraid Vincent & Catherine would have sex -And if they did Vincent might unintentionally hurt Catherine when & if his 'beastly' side took over in the heat of passion &/or impregnate her -that's my impression anyway

I agree with Cathvin87. Father felt very responsible for Vincent and Catherine and didn't want any of them to get hurt. Look at how Father reacts after Catherine followed Vincent into the catacombs.

Yes, I felt that that was one of the reason Father felt Catherine's presence was dangerous to Vincent but I also thought that too many people up above would miss her and that could lead to someone possibly finding out about below.

Catherine was a high profile person she really couldn't just 'disappear'. IMO

It’s good to dream

I'm pretty sure Catherine was just considered 'on vacation' when she was Below b/c of her father's death

Something else about this episode.

I think it was a huge ommission on the production part that "Peter", Joseph Campanella was not present at Catherine's father's funeral.

True...or at her funeral. :(

Never underestimate the genius of our beloved warrior, Michael Jackson! 1958 -

What you and cathvin87 posted is right on both, Father just worries that they cannot have the relationship that they want to have and that is understandable. He wishes them both happiness so much.
