OT: Game of Thrones fans here?

Been a GRRM fan since before BatB (his involvement is what initially drew me to the show). Yes, I am really old .

I love both BatB and GoT/ASOIAF, but would be surprised if there's much of a crossover. Be interesting to see.

GoT wouldn't be my first recommendation to GRRM's other work to a BatB fan; I'd would suggest some of his older, more melancholy stories like "The Lonely Songs of Laren Dorr".

No tears please, it's a waste of good suffering.

Both very awesome stories. Rather jarring to learn that Mr. Martin had a hand in both.

I borrowed the DVDs of the first season and now I'm not sure if it was the Children's Story episode or another one, where Jacob was telling the children a story about 'someone who was separated from his true love', and since the character's name was 'John' (or 'Jon') and the episode was written by George R. R. Martin, I wonder now if that was the impetus of Martin's character 'Jon Snow' from Game Of Thrones books?
