If this idea was to ever actually materialize, the show could never be as good as the original; few remakes or imitations ever are. Television writers today don't have the complexity or ability of writers 20 years ago, which is why the majority of tv today is trash compared to past shows. Everything today has to include too much language, too much filth, too much senseless and mindless stuff. The original series was very well done and very well written. The stories were exciting and had a way of drawing you in. The level of romance, culture, adventure, fantasy, and action couldn't be matched in today's tv world.
Have to disagree there. There's plenty of great stuff on TV (admittedly there's also plenty of AWFUL stuff). In fact, I'm recording far more than I'll ever have time to watch.
Not everything I enjoy conforms to your "sex and/or violence = bad" idea, but I'd steer you in the direction of "Once Upon A Time".
I think we remember the shows we loved and forget about the rubbish that surrounded them. Here in the UK I'm pretty sure that "The Dukes of Hazzard" ran at the same time as BatB...
