I believe they are announcing that 'Beauty & The Beast' is coming out on Bluray in May, and are hoping that the format for the eps will be widescreen.

Is there a reason why it wasnt released on widescreen ever before?
I hope they dont give it the cheap treatment on the bluray and they go all out on it. It sure deserves it after it was cancel for no good reason with the good following it had and still does.

This comment made me wonder if you're a die hard BatB fan. No offence, but it's not a secret among the fans the show was cancelled because ratings went down hard. The second season couldn't live up to the ratings of the first season. By the time the second season came to an end, CBS already wanted to cancel the show. But it got a second chance. But because Linda Hamilton left the show, the show lost even more viewers, so it got cancelled. That's the whole short in a nutshell. Hope this helps. share

Why would it be released in widescreen? It's a tv show, not a movie. Are tv shows ever released in widescreen?
shareUsually, if a TV show is filmed in widescreen, they are released in widescreen.

Todays tv shows are.
Everything is usually recorded in widescreen. They make it fullscreen for the tvs of the time. Unless they lost the footage they should have a widescreen somewhere. I was actually surprised that many tv shows are in fullscreen and for whatever reason they dont release them in widescreen.

I am a die hard fan but i wasnt aroud at the time of it being out.
yes the almighty ratings. I forget how so many wonderful shows are canceled because of that.
I always thought wow if this show was up today how it wouldnt be well liked because many people dont like good shows today. It turns out that in the era as well. Kinda like the twilight zone.
I cant believe that even the second season suffered. Goes to show that even the most wonderful art is in the dark.
The third season was great and i dont know why so many people left just because of Hamilton. In my mind they wrote her off as best as anyone wouldve been written off. The show was still strong and had so much life. It makes no sense why the third season gets such a bum-rap.
