toys?

Did anyone ever make batteries not included toys? i've been able to check McDonalds and Burger King and they were never happy meal toys. But maybe some bigger company, like Mattel or someone made toys? any help would be great.

That would have been so cool.

That really surprises me. This movie was not unpopular at all. Very much the opposite actually. I thought I remembered them being Mcd's toys? Maybe not.

I was...let's seeeee...19 when the movie came out, so I remember the time pretty well, and I do not recall there being any toys for the movie, ever. The only thing I ever saw, and I still own, is a cheapy Japanese model kit that makes the 5 original "Fix-Its" out of yellow & blue plastic. The parts are snap-together, and they range in size from about a quarter to a dime. Four of them stand up on their own legs, while the flying UFO is propped up with a stand so it "hovers" just over the heads of the others. They are (obviously) much smaller than the ones in the movie! You're supposed to paint them, but as much of a model-kit-painter as I am, I never took it upon myself to attempt to do it, being that it'd require so much attention & detail, a 3-horsehair paintbrush, and steadiness-of-hand equivalent to a surgeon's.

I believe I paid $7 for the kit, and got it at a sci-fi convention in Manhattan, in 1990 (I collect Japanese toys, mainly Chogokin; also, at the time it was the only place to get a hold of anime...my cousins & I went to every NCY convention for toys, star trek, comics, and sci-fi there were). I remember being surprised to have found such a thing, and it was the one and ONLY time I ever saw anything toy-like referring to that movie. Also, it was made in Japan, and the instructions & everything were in Japanese (who, BTW, LOVE Western culture, especially sci-fi movies), so unless you lived near NYC or on the coast of CA, which are import-points for asian collectibles, it was highly unlikely you would have seen this toy model in the first place; in other words, it had extremely limited distribution for an already somewhat obscure subject. I never saw it again since.

Unfortunately I no longer have the model box or instructions ~ they got ruined in a flood ~ but the 5 very delicate little UFO-robot Fix-Its are still 100% complete & together, despite 3 moves, and are, in fact, sitting on the top of my TV looking down at me while I type this.
