'Trapped In A Rock Video'

I know that the rock video in question if "If This Is It" by Huey Lewis and the News but I'd love to know how they incorperated the Murray Character into it.

Primitive computer technology has been availible to Hollywood for a very long time. Look at the original Star Wars, made ten years before this movie. Most likely they used green/blue screening, where an actor is filmed against a solid backdrop of a neon color that is not naturally occurring in the scene they want to insert him into. Then the film of the actor against the neon screen is given to a computer; with the push of a button, all instances of that color vanish, and the actor is left on an "invisible" set. This film can then be easily spliced with the old footage (in this case, the Huey Lewis video)

"primitive computer technology"? There is no such thing. They don't use computers for blue screen effects.

reply

Uhhh yes and no.

The cameras used to shoot models were motion controlled by a computer, The process of removing a blue background from a charactor or what not does not have to be done in the computer.

Actually, they just re-shot the music vid with the guy in it.
No special effects.

I dont think they re-shot the video! They just dubbed him in.

They just shot him in with his head in the sand, matching the lighting and set as close as they could.. then in the music vid, they just quickly disolved from the original footage to him. It's actually kind of obvious (i.e. not cleanly done) so once you see it, you'll always notice the disolve.

Not Necessarily The News did that stuff all the time, creating their comedy segments by constructing a set that looked like the actual news footage, then just edited it in.

Hi! I saw the movie, "Monkeybones". When I watched the making of this movie, I saw that SOMETIMES they used BlueScreen, & sometimes they used GreenScreen. When do they use which one, & what are the dis/advantages of each?

Eight divided by one-half equals four squared!
