it's been so long since i saw "kentucky fried movie" that i'd forgotten that "amazon women" is its 'sequel.'
this reviewer didn't, though. and, while i agree with some of his remarks about the 2nd film, i don't think it's nearly as inferior to the 1st as he makes it out to be.

When "Kentucky Fried Movie" was released in 1978, it became an instant midnight-movie classic, keeping good company with films like "Rocky Horror" and "Monty Python's Holy Grail". Ten years later, a few of the original players decided to get together and make "Amazon Women on the Moon", the unofficial "sequel". Like most sequels, official or not, it is mostly a rehash of ideas that were done much better a decade earlier.
Like Kentucky Fried Movie, the premise of Amazon Women on the Moon is a series of comedy vignettes loosely grouped together by a common theme. While the style between the films is relatively consistent, the main ingredients being pointless nudity and off-the-wall vulgar humor, the tits in Amazon Women are nowhere near as titillating, and the humor, while just as vulgar, is nowhere near as clever or funny, although it certainly has some laudable moments.
Like Kentucky Fried there are recurring gags and a central comedy vignette that is signifigantly longer than the others. However, in this case, the parody of 50's sci-fi cheese, which serves as Amazon Women on the Moon's title piece, is nowhere near as hilarious as Kentucky Fried's parody of Bruce Lee's Enter the Dragon, entitled A Fistful of Yen. While the novely of Fistful will probably be lost on anyone who hasn't at least seen Enter the Dragon once, it is a delight for Bruce Lee fans, with C. Evan Kim hilariously channeling the Master (with some surprisingly decent kung-fu, as well). Although Amazon Women is just as long, the monotony is broken up a bit by having it scattered throughout the film in segments, occasionally breaking for faux commercials.
There are a few standout performances, including one accident- prone Arsenio "the bitch don't live here" Hall, who delivers the first and last funny performance of his career in the first five minutes of this film. Also, Joe Pantoliano gives a hilarious riff on "Hair Club for Men" member and president, Sy Sperling. Unfortunately, the rest of the laughter is uneven, and while there is copious nudity, it contains nothing as exciting (or funny) as Catholic High School Girls in Trouble
Drive-In Triple Feature Picks for Amazon Women on the Moon:
Kentucky Fried Movie: The classic collection of comedy vignettes that nobody has been able to top. Watch it with your girlfriend and see if you can get some play off of that final sketch.
Tape Heads: Cheesy 80's comedy with John Cusack and Tim Robbins, made before they each got the "serious actor" bug up their asses. It doesn't have much of a plot, but the unfocused silliness, along with the charisma of the two leads, lend this little piece a definite cult celebrite'. Plus, it's got Roscoe's Chicken 'n Waffles!
Despite its flaws, "Amazon Women" has it's occasional charms. If you ever feel nostalgic for staying up all night as a kid to watch old movies on T.V., this should fit the bill.
