New Ernest movie, Son of Ernest is coming out!!!!

I have some serious questions about the continuity in the series though. If he had a son, why did we never see him. Indeed, Ernest is always childless because he ruins it every time there is a woman that likes him.

Will they fill us in on who is the mother? Is there anyone you think it could be?

He does mention in one film that his family is from Kentucky, and that he was married twice, to Jennifer Shorkey Worrel and then to Edna Worrell.

In a video answering fan mail, he does mention his son Ernie, but I thought it was a joke. Which wife do you suppose (if any of the two) that he had him with?

No idea, but I have mixed feelings about this whole thing. I probably will watch it, but it just won't be the same without Jim Varney. Also, some people can't get past the idea of Ernest having sex. I hadn't really thought about that up until now, but meh, he did date a little in the movies. You never know.

What worries me, though, is whether or not it will be mentioned in the new movie that Ernest is dead. The character, I mean. I think that would be hard for me to take, if that was the case. I was sad when I heard that Jim Varney had passed away, but comforted by the fact that the characters he played would live on, and we could enjoy them forever even though most of us never met the man who played them. I just hope that this new movie will focus on the son, and not mention any kind of fate for the father. Either way, I doubt I'll see the new film as being 'canon' in my head.
