The sex in Hellraiser. A bit too much

Anyone else besides me think that the intense wild sex that goes on in Hellraiser is a bit too much? I'm not trying to sound like a prude or whatever but the thrusting or Frank giving it to Julia real good I still think it's way too much even for an old late 1980s horror movie

reply

Absolutely not, it's necessary. Necessary to the plot, character development, horror, everything.

This movie is a sexual allegory, stripping that from this film would be the true torture.

reply

But you didnt have an issue with people getting murdered by Julia with a hammer and Frank wearing Larry's skin and people getting ripped apart by hooks?

reply

Not at all. It's a brief, softcore sex scene which the story hinges on.

reply

Holy crap! There are people graphically ripped to pieces and you think the sex is a little too much?
Maybe I'm just missing the sarcasm. F'n America. Gore and violence is okay, but sex - whoa, just stop right there!

Sig, you want a sig, here's a SIG-sauer!

Not trying to sound like a prude...

...and yet...

reply

too much in what sense? You don't think there are people that act that way? I found it over-the-top in the sense that it was a little laughable/melodramatic – but that was also intentional.

It was crucial to the plot.

reply

No. The sex on HBO is a bit too much. The sex in Hellraiser was perfect for what the movie needed.

The way you typed out, "Frank thrusting and giving it to Julia real good" was quite explicit! Hell, the scene bothered you, yet you had no problem to describe it in the most erotic way! You secretly enjoyed the sex, don't try and act like you didn't. It's obvious from your description of said scene.

reply

No I didn't enjoy the scene. It just was a bit too much for an old 1980s horror movie
