When Gramps is watching television, Jessie and Charlie come downstairs and talk with him. He goes on about how there's nothing to watch even though several channels are available. He says, "This Ronald Reagan" fella (or something like that). How would he know who Ronald Reagan was??? His character was buried in 1916 and Reagan wasn't starring in movies until long after that. He wouldn't know the president after being in the ground for over 80 years. LMAO
The scene has Jesse and Charlie walking downstairs and yeah, the tv is on, but for some reason, I don't think he would have been watching that movie, earlier to see the credits. The way he's talking about Reagan, it's almost like he's saying "yeah, he's the president, but he wouldn't have lasted back then". I'm just saying, how would he know about Ronald Reagan if he was in the ground for over 70 years. LOL
EDIT: Not to mention, in the opening credits of a movie, it doesn't say who plays who, it only has their name. So, if you are new to television and actors/actresses, I think it's safe to assume you wouldn't know who was who.
Who's your friend, Bozo The Clown??? No, Bozo The Death Machine
You have a very good point, unless maybe before the movie started they said in a commercial" President Reagan stars in (so and so) next". You know how they tell you whats next on tv.That sort of thing that maybe we are just supposed to assume it since the movie gramps was watching was already stared when Jesse and Charlie came downstairs.
you don't *think* he was watching the movie since the beginning... and you don't *think* that there's anyway Gramps could have known who Reagan was... but you don't know...
it's a really good observation... but if needed there could have been multiple ways the director could have explained this to make more sense.

Okay! I'll try to explain this as simply as I can! You've missed the point! He had no IDEA who Ronald Reagan was and had obviously SEEN or HEARD Reagan's name while he was watching the movie! THAT'S how he knew the name! This was, of course, AFTER he got over the initial shock of viewing a TELEVISION! To Gramps, Reagan WASN'T a President, he was just some schmuck hamming it up in whatever western was screening on the TV! Gramp's comment about the actor "not lasting back in the old days" was just a jab at the "manufactured" world of TV...or quite possibly the Reagan Administration by the filmmakers! Clear?
Pay attention before you post! Okay?
