the girl was annoying to me...

I just saw this for the first time this morning and I don't understand why either of them had the hots for her.

Oh Thank you God! Thank you so BLOODY much!Basil Fawlty

reply

Because she was easy, especially after she got done powdering her nose.

What I thought was annoying, was how she, all of a sudden and at a coke party, decides that she suddenly wants to quit the blow, and now she looks down on all the other cokeheads, even though she was one of them just a few hours earlier.

Are we supposed to believe she is totally clean now?

she's pretty hot and andy mccarthy was ugly and annoying, so obviously he was into her.

reply

Bear in mind she's supposed to be on coke most of the time. People on coke are annoying.

reply

Jamie Gertz is hot and annoying at the same time, anyway. The cocaine just amplified it all.

reply

She exemplifies '80s cheese and is a mediocre actress.

Hi deem of 2 years ago!

I remember seeing this when it first came out in the theater. I was a frosh in college. While I didn't envy the drug-culture (which, in college was rampant), I was so envious of the lifestyle and atmosphere, especially being in upstate NY.

Back to your point, I never thought Jamie Gertz was good in this. The only thing I had seen her in previously was "Square Pegs" where she played (Muffy?) a preppy snob. She was pretty good in that. This? Not so much.

Ay me, sad hours seem long

Well, there is always The Lost Boys. She was the mid eighties it girl for about 5 minutes. She didn't have any acting chops and just wasn't hot enough to avoid the inevitable plunge into obscurity.

Most of those type akin to "rat pack" weren't that great including Molly, Ally, & Demi! They were too young trying to play grown up parts; esp. Demi! She was an absolute joke being Scorpio's love interest in "General Hospital!"

Would Robin Wright have been a better choice than Jami Gertz:

Supposedly, everyone, including Bret Easton Ellis, said that Gertz was horribly miscast as Blair because in the book Blair IS blond and tan which are her defining traits. While Jami Gertz was pretty, she never looked like an LA-based model of the late 80s. Unlike Robin Wright, she didn't exactly look like a California golden girl to put it in another way.

Robert Downer Jr. was much more annoying! He can't even act; all he does is play himself, in this case as a druggie which he was in real life. And if you ever remind him of that he'll freak out while making millions with his superhero schlock!

Nobody on this thread understands Jamie Gertz's appeal and the reason she was cast. She does the hot Jewish girl perfectly. It's a refreshing change after all the blonde WASP bimbos.
