Ouch

Not being played anywhere on cable on xmas? It is the second greatest xmas movie of all time.

reply

Because Lethal Weapon is not a Christmas movie no matter what anyone says. Christmas movies are about Christmas.

According to who? You?

Frankly this movie barely feels like a Christmas movie but frankly, these to me are the must see movies I feel I want to watch during the Christmas season.
A Christmas Carol (just about any version)
A Christmas Story
The Santa Clause
The Jim Carrey Grinch and the original cartoon of Grinch with Boris Karloff (though I'd argue that isn't really a movie)
It's a wonderful life
Miracle on 34th street
Home Alone 1 and 2
Scrooged
I don't generally watch Die Hard around Christmas but even I'll admit it is more Christmassy than Lethal Weapon which unlike Die Hard, Christmas is barely even mentioned. Heck, unlike Die Hard I don't think anyone even says, "Merry Christmas!" in it. When last watching Lethal Weapon a few months ago for the first time in years, I had forgotten about half way through that it was even set at Christmas and didn't even remember it was until the finale when the 2 main characters crash into a house and then into a Christmas tree. Oh. Also, unlike Die Hard the premise has little to do with Christmas at all. I'd argue Christmas is an after thought in Lethal Weapon.

Once again the studio that actually made the movie disagrees with you:

Sure it was released in the summer, but the soundtrack and references to Santa and Christmas are numerous throughout the movie. It's at least as Christmas a movie as Home Alone.

reply

So, not at all a Christmas movie since Home Alone isn't about the holiday, either.
