A question about the region 2 DVD

I'm currently reading the book (I'm only halfway through, but I have a feeling it's going to be a favourite...) and I really really /really/ want to see the film, but as I'm in England and I have a rubbishy DVD player, I'd need the Region 2 DVD.

According to amazon.co.uk, the region 2 DVD is £50, which seems ridiculous, and while amazon.com also stocks the region 2 DVD, there aren't any available copies at the moment.

So I would be extremely grateful if anyone could tell me how to get my hands on the region 2 DVD... :)

Thank you for the advice...I may harrass my parents about it. I'm only sixteen, so really it's down to them, but I can try and persuade them to get a new DVD player.

Either that or I'll put a new DVD player on my Christmas list!
