The kid references GROUNDHOG DAY Part 12 as a movie he and his friends want to go see. Groundhog Day came out in 1993 - 6 years after Monster Squad. Weird. Any insight?

In the credits they list a couple of the actors from the movie in the movie, and they write it as Ground Hog Day, so maybe it was about a killer that grinds up pigs.

Just a coincidence - but "Groundhog Day" is definitely a better title for a fantasy film than a horror movie!
