Having its green goo and eating it

Love the ending to this movie.

The guy having the dream, thats not a dream, within a dream!

Explains nothing. Suggests lots of things. Are we all screwed?(or was it ALL a dream?)

I like how like Thing, Carpenter's first film of the apocalypse trilogy, Prince Of Darkness manages to have its cake and eat it. It manages to scare you with what you don't understand, get you nearer to understanding and defeating it and the says "no-such luck, buddy".

I know that horror movies often do this switcheroo, "It's not over" gag at the end but The Thing and Prince of Darkness seem crafted to make that statement. We are fùcked, pal.

Glasgow's FOREMOST authority Italics = irony. Infer the opposite please.

Ha, very true.

In the Mouth of Madness takes that sentiment to it's apocalyptic conclusion.

Can't stop the signal.

Actually while In the Mouth of Madness is clear about the world's being destroyed, neither The Thing nor Prince of Darkness ultimately indicates evil's victory as a fait accompli. In The Thing, either Macready or Child's may be the Thing with either character likely prepared for that eventuality while in Prince of Darkness, we don't know if Brian has lost his mind or is genuinely receiving another warning about the future. Either film implies the possibility of the destruction of the world, but neither makes it definitive unlike In the Mouth of Madness, which clearly tells us the world is doomed.

Requiescat in pace, Krystle Papile. I'll always miss you.

I believe that apocalypse is implied in those two. It's just not explicitly assured.

"I don't need to believe it's real. I just need to believe it."

Interested to read that the American TV edit of the film is supposedly cut, to give the film a more positive spin, suggesting all the events depicted were just a dream of Brian's.🐭
