Another very similar film that came out in 1987...

O.K., I know this is a remake of a French film, but there's another (American made) film that came out the same year as this one. About the same time Touchtone released this movie, MGM released BABY BOOM with Diana Keaton.

Very similar plot: childless New Yorker (just one this time, and she's a woman) with no plans of ever changing her lifestyle suddenly finds it drastically changed anyway when a baby girl is basically forced into her care, and she's totally unprepaired to deal with it. This film even has it's own "diaper changing fiasco" scene.

For anybody who's seen both films, is there one you like better than the other, and why?

I like 3 Men better, just comes across a lot funnier with these confirmed bachellors trying to care for a baby. Diane Keaton is very funny in her turn at being an inexperienced mom but the guys make me laugh every time.

The "ghost thing" wasn't supposed to be in this film either.

I really wish everyone just forget about the ghost already. I mean is that the only thing people even think about when they think of this film? This is a great comedy with alot of heart, but judging from what people talk about when they speak of this movie none of that other stuff matters to them, just the thing with the supposed ghost.

Honestly, I prefer 3 Men. I mean, don't get me wrong, I LOVE Baby Boom. The Country Baby sub-plot in Baby Boom is definitely more substantial than the Gangster sub-plot in 3 Men. To me, it's just more fun to watch three men morph from dyed in the wool bachelor types to daddy types than it is to watch a savvy business woman turn soft-hearted stay at home mom.

I prefer 3 Men. There's just something about Diane Keaton that is NOT funny, no matter how hard she tries or how brilliant the lines are.
