In Bruges

Anyone here a fan of both films? They remind me of one another with their complicated characters, emotional content and very witty dialogue.

I definitely agree. It's essentially the 2000s' equivalent to Withnail & I, obviously, it's far less understated, but it has that perfect balance of tragedy and farce.

I like this phrase it sums both films up well. I've also thought since that they also share being a drama about two men holidaying (for want of a better term for either!) in a strange place. W&I has Jake the poacher and IB has the racist dwarf!

Withnail and Marwood aren't criminals though, although other aspects of the films are quite similar I suppose.

I also really enjoyed In Brujes "That's for John Lennon, you ****! (loved that line!)

But I saw no comparison between the two films as far as plot, characters, etc. But, yes, In Brujes was fun to watch.

I love In Bruges... definitely some similarities. I couldn't help thinking of Black Books, although the tone there is obviously more comedic. Maybe it was all the wine.
