Problem with the hold up scene.

I don't know if this has been discussed before, but this has bugged me from day one the scene where Samuel L. Jackson came in with a shotgun and held up McDowell's. Did anyone else notice how some of the patrons , i.e. Lisa and the guy sitting at the next table over were just calmly sitting at their tables as if it's no big that there is no big deal there is a man with a shotgun who just fired a shot into the ceiling and was screaming at everyone. If this was real life, all those people would be screaming and ducking under tables etc... But they're all just sitting there without a care in the world.

Boston and Philly love to slander us, but they don t have as many fans as us

The main reason that Santa is so jolly is because he knows where all the bad girls live

Plus, Cleo did mention he'd been hit by that guy five times (IIRC). So maybe they'd be used to it.

reply

Lol yes i noticed that everytime i watch this movie and it makes me laugh

You've obviously never been in that situation. It's perfectly normal to freeze up when something like that happens.

reply

Just another ordinary occurrence in Queens :)

Stay tuned for the documentary: "From Wheaties to Fruit Loops...the Bruce Jenner story"

"We've been hit by that guy five times..." Maybe Lisa was used to him? Maybe Lisa was a badass....I mean somebody had to be one in the relationship with Darryl!!!!!! lol

reply

"If this was real life..." Are you having trouble understanding the difference between a movie and real life?

reply

Hence the word 'If'. I think what he's trying to say is that their reaction should've been closer to what one would expect if it had happened in real life. After all, other people portraying diners were acting scared. Why not Lisa?

Since he had robbed the place already five times before, Lisa was probably thinking, "Oh, not this guy again *sigh*", so her reaction was indicative of weariness rather than fear. She also probably knew that if she just stayed quiet and drew no attention to herself, she would not be harmed...

"...And on this farm he had an igloo..."

Hey, this is New Yawk! If the situation is not directly involving you, MIND YOUR OWN BUSINESS!

That was then, this is now. Millennials would dive for cover if someone wears a MAGA hat.

What I don't get is that he was obviously released as the father says he'd hit the place 3 times before but had a feeling he wouldn't now that he has his African connection.

Any relation to "Intotheknight" who posted above???

reply

No. My old handle was intothenightalone.

reply

Okay. He seems pretty dumb, unlike you, of course.😉

reply

I once made a handle that was similar to a member who had gone quiet and impersonated her. That was fun. She came back though lol.

reply

Wait a minute, that member wasn't me, was it?!

reply

No this was 20 years ago on the Jennifer Lopez board. Did you use the Sony bbs? It was great.
