This IS a Christmas Movie.

New York City policeman John McClane (Bruce Willis) is visiting his estranged wife (Bonnie Bedelia) and two daughters on Christmas Eve. He joins her at a holiday party in the headquarters of the Japanese-owned business she works for. But the festivities are interrupted by a group of terrorists who take over the exclusive high-rise, and everyone in it. Very soon McClane realizes that there's no one to save the hostages -- but him.

It's definitely a Christmas movie.

It took me years to realize all those Hallmark movies were actually just romance movies with a Christmas theme background.

Same goes with this...it's an action flick with a Christmas theme background.

reply

Legion and Soldier is Christmas time made movies also.

reply

Just like 15% of a Christmas movie, but who cares? It's awesome movie.

True

Has it's own Christmas ornament. Many places tell how to make it:

Being released in theaters for the holidays.

reply

It's not and I'll prove it.

There is no Santa Claus. No elves. No reindeer. No miracles on 34th Street. No magic. No kids. No cookies. No stockings stuffed. No tinsle. No ghosts. No scrooge. No Grinch. No carolers. No manger. No cookies. Hell I'm not even sure there is a tree.

There is nothing that indicates this is a Christmas movie except that there happens to be a holiday party going on. It's a ridiculous discussion.

This is the biggest debate and I don't know why it is blown out of proportion. I would say its an Action/Christmas movie. I watched it last night and the Christmas music is throughout the entire movie, people whistling Christmas music, obviously they are at a Christmas party. No snow, of course because they are in California. Huge Christmas tree in the lobby of the building.

It has enough Christmas elements to warrant it being a Christmas movie. If It's a Wonderful Life can be considered a Christmas movie, then so can Die Hard. Neither movies have Christmas as an integral part to their plots, they just happen to have plots set at Christmas. Die Hard has a Christmas party, various Christmas references and a Christmas song playing during its end credits, and if I'm not mistaken one at the start too.

Die Hard is NOT a Christmas movie at all.

Only absolute morons claim this is.

And YOU are not a JoWilli!

The vast majority of people clearly say Die Hard is NOT a Christmas movie at all.

I like my Christmas movies across many genres and I'll watch Die Hard as a Christmas movie along with Invasion USA.

reply

Yet none of them are Christmas movies at all.
