Well I am very glad you liked it, I wonder if you are a new viewer.
I mean if you saw this movie in its original release.
Becoz I have my doubts people these days would like it.
Not even back then, in the 80s, people liked it that much.
I saw this movie in its time, in 1989 on theaters (saw it twice cuz I loved it, I was a huge fan of Michael)
But I really think it is not a good movie as a movie, but good for any Michael Jackson true fan.

According to the trivia this was never released in theaters, due to money problems it had to go DTV. I would have loved to see this on a big screen!

When I was a little kid and saw this movie on video as my parents never took me to see it in the cinema.
I heard only but positive reactions of this movie.
Dunno where you heard that people didn't like it.
Maybe critics? But they are always dumb.
It was and still is a good movie just it's not like any other movie,
people compaire it too much with other movies and that's just stupid.
The special effects were back then top noch, of course now it's outdated and if people whent looking at this as a movie of course they will be dissapointed by the special effect and thinking this was actual movie with a storyline.
But this is not like any other movie, thus still amazing.
