DVD?

I googled Moonwalker on the 'Google Shopping' section, and it looks like they actually have the dvd available on certain sites.... but none of them are actual 'legit' sites, like Amazon, Best Buy, FYE, etc. What do we think about this - are the 'Moonwalker dvds' a good quality version of the movie, or a cheap copy of the VHS? I was thinking of getting this as a christmas gift for my sister.

I saw it on amazon actually listed as a region 1 DVD fulfilled by amazon also which was strange because I have never seen a region 1 before. It was recently sold out but it says you can order it and they are getting more in stock. I am weary of this as there are no reviews yet.

Distributor is given as 101 Distribution which is known as an importer of non-US releases. The cover clearly has asian text on it so this would in all likelihood be a region-free Asian release. Not a Region 1/US release in any way but perfectly playable on US DVD-players.

Would it be an actual commercial disc or a DVD-R... I am wondering because I torrented this movie and put it onto a DVD-R, but if this was the real deal then it would be worth buying. But I dont want ot buy something i already have.

The disc would be a factory pressed DVD. As long as you are buying the item through reputable channels as Amazon you are protected.
That said the DVD-R you have should cover your basic needs and assuming that it is sourced from one of the commercial DVD releases there is certainly nothing on the import that isn't on your DVD-R.
Who knows, a future Region 1 release may offer some bonus material so you may want to wait it out and get that over this. Seeing as it has been released in Mexico I would imagine a North American release wouldn't be too far off.

I bought a copy about a month ago from a seller on Amazon. I was expecting it to be a bootleg, but when I received it it looks like a genuine WB release. The seller is located in the Philippines and it took about 3 weeks to get it, but it's definitely worth it! The picture is amazingly clear! Here's the link:

http://www.amazon.com/Michael-Jackson-MOONWALKER-2010-FORMAT/dp/B0035KESBE/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&m=A2L2THLYF8NXMY&s=generic&qid=1268161099&sr=1-1

It definitely looks factory-pressed (not like a bootleg) and the sound and picture quality are amazing! Like I said, it's worth the wait! Hope this helps you.

RIP Michael Jackson

Still waiting for an official Victory Tour DVD!

Not saying it is but you do realize that counterfeit DVDs and CDs are factory-pressed and convincingly so in a number of Asian countries? Countries like the Philippines and Thailand are pretty well known for their counterfeit market. Just FYI...

I ordered mine off of eBay for $6.99 (US dollars)

However, it's not a authentic Warner Bros. DVD although the WB label is on the cover.

If you read the copyright stuff on the back of the box, it talks about Ben 10 (which is produced by Cartoon Network/Warner Bros)

It's worth it but here's the bum part:

1. The back cover has multiple spelling errors and the side label is upside down
2. No bonus features (except the theatrical trailer from 1988)
3. You can only hear it in English (sorry foreigners) because it says you can change it to Spanish or Portugese but it stays on English.

Here's the good part:
1. The picture is almost like Hi-Def except its on a regular DVD
2. The sound quality is crisp clear
