I’ve now got a 4 k tv and DVDs don’t do it justice. I have this on DVD but decided to buy the blu ray. It’s got so much more detail in HD. I noticed tons of things I hadn’t noticed before.
I DONT UNDERSTAND WHY 30 YEAR OLD FILMS SHOT AND VIEWED IN THE SAME PICTURE QUALITY OF EVERYTHING ELSE UNTIL MORE RECENTLY NEED TO BE UPGRADED OR VIEWED IN SUCH INTENSE CLARITY AND DETAIL...
It worked very well with Apollo 11 (2019). The filmmakers digitally remastered the fifty year old films from the Apollo 11 mission and it's stunning to watch. Check it out and you'll see what I mean.
MY MAIN ISSUE WITH THE HIGH HIGH QUALITY TRANSFERS IS THE FILMS THEMSELVES WERENT SHOT FOR SUCH HIGH RESOLUTION...A LOT OF SEAMS AND CRACKS AND FLAWS APPEAR.
35mm film is basically HD. The master copy has the clarity of a HD camera. The problem has always been the conversion to cheaper film for distribution.
Some DVDS just used distributed copies of the film to make the DVD version, so you’ll see scratches and other bits of dirt pop up.
With blu ray, they try to use the master or use computers to remove all of these scratches and dirt.
YEAH 35mm IS REAL CLEAR...OF COURSE NOBODY REALIZED UNTIL RECENTLY...EVERY MOVIE I SAW AS A KIN AT HOME OR IN THE THEATER LOOKED THE SAME...CLEAR ENOUGH...I HAVE NOTICED WATCHING A LOT OF THOSE FILMS IN HIGH DEF DOES ENHANCE AND DRAW ATTENTION TO A LOT OF FLAWS THOUGH...BAD MAKEUP,BOOM MICS,POOR EFFECTS,UGLY FACES,ETC...
Yes, I noticed stuntmen when HD TVs first came out. It has it's benefits and short comings.
They assumed that many things wouldn't be noticeable by the audience. I think post-production work should be done on some films when HD reveals things like wires or obvious stuntmen.
