Directors Cut Questions !?

I saw the film today in class and loved it! It was beautiful. We didn't see the directors cut though. Could somebody please just tell me what I'm missing in it? You can give me spoilers, any information possible. What is better or worse about it? Thank you so much :) . Sorry if this has been asked before!

SPOILERS TO ANYONE NOT SEEN THE DIRECTOR'S CUT!!!

The main additions [there are other, smaller ones such as some longer dialogue scenes] to the director's cut are

Teenage Salvatore losing his virginity to a prostitute

A little more of teenage Salvatore and Elena, including Salvatore running to Elena's house when she doesn't show up at the cinema

Television being shown in the cinema

A little more of Salvatore in the army

A whole new subplot in the final section, at least 30 mins long, where Salvatore meets Elena again. I won't tell you what happens, go and hire/buy it!!

It seems that most people prefer the short version, but I much prefer the director's cut. I think the main problem folks have with the director's cut is that it explains too much [why did Elena not show up at the cinema, etc?]. I personally think it's even more beautiful and touching than the short version, and it always makes me cry, but I'm biased-the director's cut of Cinema Paradiso is my favourite film ever!

Thank you! I actually saw some of it the other day in school! I liked both versions. I understand why the shorter version is preferred sometimes but I also understand why you like the directors cut! Great, great movie!
