Greatest performance of all time

According to Oscar winning actor Alan Arkin - he claims that the performance by Steven Hill is this film is the single greatest screen performance he ever saw.

"I only work in black, and sometimes very very dark grey"

Did he really? Where did you read that?

Check out Kevin pollock chat show # 158 on you tube..... Excellent in depth interview

I have to agree. I was taken aback by it. His reaction when his daughter got up to go was priceless.

Are you serious? Lahti kills the scene with her ability to cry and get choked up in all the right placws but Hill doesn't offer up anything special at all, it's just a regular performance. If this is the greatest performance commited to screen that's not saying much haha. Solid film but long winded

All the performances were so very strong in this movie. I just came from a post denigrating Judd Hirsch in this movie, calling him miscast; even going so far as to say He was terrible in Ordinary People! I just don't get it.

I agree. The sadness, and realness of that scene still haunts me.
