"Don't forget the hand movements."

How ironic to sing a song like that then go out and kill people.

reply

What was the lyrics for that song? Never could made out what they were they were saying

The Boogeyman is real... and you've found him!

reply

Oh I'm a happy camper I love the summer sun I love the trees and forest I'm always having fun Oh I'm a happy camper I love the clear blue sky and with the grace of god I'll camp until I die.

Thanks

Now that you know the lyrics don't you see why I think it's ironic to sing a song like that and then go out and kill people?

reply

Let's not forget the alternative version of the happy camper song the two twins Angela lovingly referred to as The S**t Sisters sang :

Oh i'm a happy camper i love to drink and *beep*
and if you give me money my t*tties you can s**k

reply

The Happy Camper song isn't really ironic if you think about it. Angela thought what better way to start summer camp than sing a song with the lyrics of 'I'll camp until I DIE'. I think it was a type of mocking on Angela's part if you look deeper into it. I think it is pure genious on Angela's part. She got them all singing the song and literally had them singing 'I'll camp unti I die' which they really did die camping if you think it over.

Have you forgotten the quote"With the grace of God" same with the singing of Kumbya. What's ironic is that she sung songs to do with our Lord and then went out and killed people.Since the Happy Camper Song has the word God in it I think of it as a religous song.If she really believed in God she wouldn't be breaking a commandment.

reply

Maybe inside Angela's warped mind she thought that the 'bad' kids would be forgiven by God once she killed them. Maybe Angela thinks she is doing 'God's' work. Remember a conversation to Uncle John? "There are plenty of good kids out there, you just have to weed out the bad".

I sincerely think Angela thought she was doing God's work by killing bad kids.

I didn't mention this before but Angela obviously is not a believer in God as one og the commandments is "Thou Shalt Not Murder"

I know a punk song called "God Is A Homo" - does that make it a religious song? LOL!

reply

Didn't Kurt Cobain say that at some point? I don't know why the phrase about god being a homo makes me think that he had said it.

Does anybody know a way to get the Happy Camper song out of my head? Its worse then the Small World song and Lazy Hazy Crazy Days of Summer all mixed into one!!!

Yeah I love it. The song is creepy and funny at the same time.

"But I didn't do anything!"
"You're gonna TELL!"

reply

Very creepy, especially in the 3rd movie when Angela is having flashbacks and it shows her singing, but its in slow motion and comes out sounding low and demonic. *shudders*

And the fact that she's just been named Counselor of the Week gives it a
very dark, tongue-in-cheek kind of humor.

Tysonyates, I do believe that Angela is sincerely a believer in God. It's just that she has a very warped belief in him. If anything, she's a deranged believer in God rather than a false believer. Killers like this of both the psychotic and non-psychotic varieties have been seen several times in film and other media. Examples include Judge Frollo from The Hunchback of Notre Dame (Disney version), Margaret White from Carrie, Margaret Gayne from See No Evil, Karl the Street Preacher from Johnny Mnemonic, Mrs. Carmody from The Mist, Dante Alighieri from the video game version of Dante's Inferno (before his encounter with the Grim Reaper at least), Alexander Anderson from Hellsing (only in the TV show though, which is significantly different from the manga and OVA), John Doe from Seven, William Stryker from the X-Men comics (definitely not in the movies though), the Vatican Knights who try to murder Christine York from the film End of Days, Silas from The Da Vinci Code, Paul the Apostle in The Bible (only when he was called Saul of Tarsus, had Stephen stoned to death, and persecuted the followers of Jesus though), many of the crusaders who committed vile acts in the name of God during The Crusades in both fiction and real life, etc.

Asides from having people murdered (or trying to have murdered in some cases) because they don't fit in with their views of how things are, the things all of these have in common with Angela is a belief in God and a deranged sense of right and wrong. Many are just a lot more fanatical and dedicated to God than Angela though, and a great number are also fellow psychopaths as well while many others are not (Vatican Knights from End of Days, Saul of Tarsus, and many of the Crusaders are great examples of non-psychotic examples).

I love the Happy Camper Song. Loved everyone doing the "jazz hands" during the line "I love the trees and forest".
