Legacy vs. Anchor bay DVD

I had a copy of Sleepaway camp 2 & 3 from Legacy, and the sound quality was horrible.
In number 2, most of the sound effects in the killing scenes was missing, and in number 3, the sounds had an odd metallic sound to them.

Does anyone know if the Anchor Bay versions of these movies has better sound quality? I thought the movies were ok, but better sound and picture would make them a lot better.

i own the legacy trilogy and they are low in sound quality and picture at points, i read on the sleepaway camp site that these are unauthorised vhs rips which are collectors items.. id rather have the anchor bay collection aswell as it is proper quality

I have 2 and 3 from Legacy also and I hate hate hate HATE the sound quality. I got the Legacy versions for like 1.50 each but I think I might upgrade to the Anchor Bay ones soon because I can't stand watching the movies anymore with missing sound.

Yeah definitely upgrade, The anchor bay ones are great! picture and sound is clear and alot more easy to watch, plus you get all the cool extras on the disc aswell!

I got the Legacy ones years ago. I jumped at the chance because I did not have 2 or 3 yet. All three films were probably 12 dollars all together. The picture and sound on the sequels is bad, I remembered that when I watched them again recently. I've seen singles of the Anchor Bay versions, but still more than what I paid for. And the sequels aren't all the good anyway, so I personally will just stick with the Legacy VHS rips.

the legacy editions are also heavily edited. im not positive about part 1 and 3 but i owned the legacy edition of part 2 for about 3 days and got rid of it quickly after i realized the cutting off of the tongue scene was removed. each death scene is heavily edited.

Apparently the first one is uncut. However I'm told the only scene cut from Anchor Bay was all the nude male butts in the skinny dipping scene. Small loss if you ask me.

Netflix sent me the Anchor Bay Entertainment version of Unhappy Campers. It have better audio and additional features.

reply

The Anchor Bay version is much better especially with Part 2.The Legacy Entertainment Version of Part 2 has a dark picture throughout most of the film as well as the fact that the Legacy version of Part 2 is heavily cut.

Didn't notice too many audio problems except for the absence of the screams when
Lea and T.C are killed.Never noticed any real problems with Part 3 however.

how bad is 2 edited? an like what scenes?

cause i have the anchorbay for 1 but my 2 an 3 are legacy an i will be very annoyed if the movie is really cut

reply

anyone?????

reply

I don't know what scenes specifically are cut as Ive not seen these versions (I own the Survival Kit) but I have heard they are just chopped to bits except for the 1st. one which is uncut. As for 2 and 3, the only version out there that is considered uncut is the Anchor Bay editions. (If i remember correctly)

I'm not sure of cut or uncut. I've never see the Anchor Bay version of 2, but on the Legacy DVD there is an audio problem. Been two or three months since I last watched it, but near the end, during the final confrontation in the abandoned cabin I remember the audio seemed to mute ever so often. Enough to get annoying.
