Did Jaleel White save Family Matters from an early cancelation?

What do you think? Urkel was a funny character for a while anyway.

Yes he did if the urkel character didn't become a hit Im willing to bet the show is canceled mid season.

It might have only lasted about one season without Urkel. They said originally the already had scripts written before he was added so I would assume at least till the end of the season.

He got annoying just in season 3 alone. I had to stop watching the series.

It wouldn’t have lasted 9 seasons. But it would have had about 1 or 2 seasons at least.

I don't care what anybody says. Urkel was the best character on the show. Season 1 is unwatchable.

True. In my non-english speaking country we used to say "Let's watch Urkel" instead of whatever the translation of the title was. He carried the show.

Funny how Jaleel went from a nerdy character on "Family Matters" to a women's heart throb when he grew up.
