why? It's almost like he had one in real life, and they decided to write it in, but I also noticed that scars and bandages were a theme in the movie, because at some point all the main characters had them. Just curious if anyone knows the scoop.

It seems that right before production began, Corey's mom hit him with the car! It was an accident, of course...but that is what happened. The writers made some last minute changes to the script. Even in the movie, Dinger says that his mom hit him with the car, inside joke since that is really what happened! :)

This was BEFORE he became addicted to pills and that's not funny, regardless. Making light of an addiction... and I'm pretty sure that NO ONE would find it funny to be in an accident where you and your Mom are hurt.
It was absolutely a Vespa accident caused by Judy (Haims Mom) prior to shooting,
The broken leg was written into the script.

I didn't know that. If it's true I guess it makes sense. Why would they write a character to be hobbling around the whole movie. I figured it was a character trait the wanted him to have.
