Its got nothing on the original the original was faster paced, creepier, more eerie etc.

shareI think it is a pretty darn decent sequel and had Evil Ed returned, it may have done better box office. It was well directed and photographed and while not quite the classic as the original, it still delivers the goods as a horror film which is infused with dark humor and is also quite stylish. It was an interesting plot turn, to see how Charley was now the one being wooed and seduced by Jerry's sister.

It's box office had nothing to do with Evil Ed - the distributor was murdered by his two sons prior to the films theatrical release and thus it got very limited distribution and went straight to video...it out grossed Pet Sematary on a per screen average when it was in theaters...
shareSome watched Disney movies on VHS over & over in their youth, one of my 'repeat' movies was the original FRIGHT NIGHT.
When I heard a sequal was in the works I was ECSTATIC!
when I finally rented it on VHS....I was SOOOOOO let down I wanted to cry (i was 12 or 13)!
FFWD to now, its definitely an INFERIOR sequal, but has its moments and strengths.
