Why was Winston in the courtroom?

He wasn't there when the guys dug a hole in the middle of First Avenue and caused a citywide blackout. Was he there to be a character witness? Emotional support? (I wonder if there's any fan fiction out there about Winston sleeping with the prosecutor.)
And since he was there, why didn't he help the guys with the Scalary* brothers? (Maybe there were only three proton packs. I'll have to look at the movie again. I know I have the DVD somewhere in my house.)

*I'll spell-check that later.

He was there only to say hello to them. He didn't have anything to do with the hole-digging. As for the Scoleri Brothers - there was a scene shot but cut from the film where Winston, hearing the commotion in the courtroom, tries to go back to help them, but the doors to the courtroom are sealed from the inside, preventing his intervention.

I always wondered why he didn't help catch the ghosts. Winston feels so underplayed in these films.

I always wondered why they added the E to his name, from Zeddmore to Zeddemore

I think they did that in The Real Ghostbusters cartoon at at some point.
