What reminded of this movie

Today I was reading in the news about these cops that entered a guys house by mistake when they got a report of a suspicious man wandering the neighborhood They end up killing this guys dog and shooting him as well. And one of the cops got shot too, not sure if the guy shot him since they said they were not sure if he was armed. ( did the other cop shoot him ? ) The police captain said that when the cops saw the back door and screen door were unlocked they suspected the house was being robbed .... ????? Excuse me but we rarely lock the back or front door when we are home. Its not a sign that we are being robbed or that the police are invited to enter with guns drawn. But when I read this I instantly thought of this movie and wonder if this poor guy will get railroaded for shooting a cop ( if he was armed and defending himself, two guys sneak in the back of your house and shoot your dog you probably do not expect them to be cops )
