Terry Silver - a better sensei than Mr. Miyagi?

I can't help but think that if Terry Silver decided to train Daniel for real, he would be a lot better sensei than Mr. Miyagi. Of course Miyagi's karate skills were superior to those of Silver, but his teaching skills were not. Just watch the training scenes with Terry and Daniel. If you forget for a minute all lessons were set up against Daniel, then it really does look like Silver tries to teach him some karate. Mr. Miyagi, on the other hand, tries very hard to teach Daniel as little as possible or even refuses to teach him anything. His lessons are more like Zen or Tai Chi or "how to live in harmony with nature" lessons than actual karate lessons. I always wondered - is Miyagi so reluctant to teach Daniel because he doesn't see any real potential in him?

I think (and this comes from a person who has been in Karate for 34 years) that you haven't got a clue what you are talking about.
But carry on, it gives me a chuckle nonetheless.

If those pen pushers up at city hall don't like it,well, they swivel on this middle digit!

Can you explain why? I admit I have nothing to do with karate and what I wrote was based on what I saw in the movie.

Miyagi taught Daniel Karate with patience and compassion. Terry Silver taught Daniel one side only and he did it through inflicting pain on him. Now I get that he was supposed to be inflicting pain on him, but the methods he was using he would also use to train anyone. It's too one dimensional and focussed on competition fighting without any calmness or balance.
If the goal is to simply do well at a competition, then fair enough. But if the goal is to learn Karate, then it's not enough.
